Site Team Leader, YouthQuest After School Initiative

Reports to: Director, YouthQuest After School Initiative

Position Summary: The Site Team Leader will provide daily management and implementation of the YouthQuest After School Initiative program plan and staff at the respective school site. The Site Team Leader serves as the primary contact with the school principal and day school staff, parents, students and local community.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands and supports the YouthQuest After School Initiative strategic plan.
    Manages the daily operation of the after school program at school site.
  • Works with school principal and day staff to identify, recruit, and enroll students in the program.
  • Works with school principal to carry out the Memorandum of Understanding outlining the terms of the partnership between the After School Initiative and the respective school site.
  • Works with school principal and day school staff to identify student learning challenges and inform/lead the after school staff to incorporate curriculum and supporting activities to address these challenges.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining safe environment at and around the school site in partnership with the school leadership.
  • Establish a Youth Advisory Council with support from the school leadership and day staff.
  • Responsible for timely program data input into E-Z reports, including but not limited to student attendance, participation, curriculum selections.
  • Responsible for budget expenditures and documentation in alignment with program goals and objectives of respective site.
  • Manages the after school site staff to implement the strategic plan at the site level
  • Responsible for site staff performance and providing appropriate constructive feedback through periodic performance reviews.
  • Documents all incidents that occur at the site involving students, staff, parents, and other individuals during the course of program delivery.
  • Participates in and supports all staff professional development designed to enhance and build capacity of the after school site staff.
  • Works with program administration to provide input and information relating to events, website content, and communications/marketing initiatives.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Associate degree in education, management, youth development or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of four (4) years of experience in direct work with youth and families.
  3. Must enjoy working with children.
  4. Possess understanding of educational systems.
  5. Demonstrated program planning and fiscal management system experience.
  6. Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to budget, plan and implement programming.
  8. Ability to work with large and diverse groups of students and adults.
  9. Possess basic understanding of youth development tenets.
  10. Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Publisher.
  11. Familiarity with database collection systems, preferably E-Z Reporting.
  12. Demonstrated excellent time management skills.
  13. Able to manage multiple priorities, detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic.
  14. Strong critical thinking and problem resolution skills.

 Learning Guide, YouthQuest After School Initiative

Reports to: Site Team Leader, YouthQuest After School Initiative

Responsive to: 
Director, YouthQuest After School Initiative

Position Summary: The Learning Guide will work directly with after school students, providing support with day school and after school lessons and homework.  Additionally, the Learning Guide will provide students with positive relationship building techniques and provide supervision and instruction on a variety of educational and enrichment activities.  

Responsibilities:

  • Understands and carries out the YouthQuest After School Initiative program plan at the respective school site with students
  • Seek and use all program resources and other available resources to assist students in their academic, social, physical and emotional growth
  • Assist Site Team Leader with the marketing and recruitment of students to the program
  • Works with Site Team Leader and day school staff to identify student learning challenges and incorporate curriculum and supporting activities to address these challenges in the after school program
  • Prepare daily lesson plans reflecting curriculum and supporting activities addressing student learning challenges
  • Actively engage parents to support and participate in the program in appropriate ways
  • Maintain a clean, safe, orderly site to encourage learning in a positive environment.
  • Record student attendance and participation in the after school program using E-Z Reports and other programs set up by the After School Initiative.

  1. High school degree; Associate degree in education, management, youth development or related field is preferred.

Site Administrative Assistant, YouthQuest After School Initiative

Reports to: Site Team Leader, YouthQuest After School Initiative

Responsive to: Both the Director, YouthQuest After School Initiative and the Finance Administration Independent Contractor

Position Summary: The Site Administrative Assistant will provide site level administrative support for the YouthQuest After School Initiative, primarily through paperwork and food service.  On a daily basis, the SAA will model positive behavior to other staff and program participants.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands and carries out the YouthQuest After School Initiative program plan at the respective school site with students and staff
  • Work directly with the Site Team Leader to complete all administrative support tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Daily attendance and EZ Report information
    • Student and staff registration
    • Session and special events data management
    • Payroll / timesheet tracking, both electronic and hard copy
    • Field trip paperwork
    • Serving of meals and snacks and management of all food related paperwork
    • Dismissal sign out procedures
    • Data entry of lesson plans as needed
    • Assist Site Team Leader with the marketing and recruitment of students to the program
  • Provide support to Site Team Leader and Learning Guides assisting with program materials and preparation
  • Maintain a clean, safe, orderly site to encourage learning in a positive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings and all applicable professional development sessions
  • Serve as a substitute Learning Guide as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  1. High school diploma; Associate degree in education, management, youth development or related field is preferred.
  2. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in direct work with youth and families desired; experience as a participant in a youth development program acceptable.
  3. Must enjoy working with children.
  4. Possess understanding of educational systems.
  5. Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to work with large and diverse groups of students and adults.
  7. Possess or willingness to gain basic understanding of youth development tenets.
  8. Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Publisher, as well as internet and email technology.
  9. Familiarity with or willingness to gain experience in database collection systems, preferably E-Z Reporting.
  10. Demonstrated excellent time management and classroom management skills.
  11. Skilled in organizing and tracking materials.
  12. Able to manage multiple priorities, detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic.
  13. Strong critical thinking and problem resolution skills.
  14. Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs.A criminal history check and a drug test must be completed prior to employment.
