More than 800 students and parents from throughout the region celebrated the end of a successful, fun-filled YouthQuest season Saturday at Perani Arena.  The event was the culmination of a year of learning and fun for students through YouthQuest after school programs.  The celebration featured games and prizes including face painting, a rock climbing wall, and a batting cage. In late June, the YouthQuest Summer program will begin for students in the Carman-Ainsworth, Flint, Mt. Morris and Montrose school districts.  The elementary program will feature themed weeks, enrichment activities, hands-on projects, recreation and art.  Middle school students will spend the “Summer on the Road”.  Each week students will visit area locations to experience learning.  Themed weeks include:  Ligon Outdoor Learning Center, Downtown Biz – Entrepreneurship 101, College Visits and Flint Cultural Center.

“This will be a great summer for learning and having fun,” said Rhetta Hunyady, Group Vice President of Operations and Employer Education and Training Connection.  “The YouthQuest Summer Program is an extension of what we do throughout the school year.  It’s designed to provide engaging and interactive activities to keep students learning while enjoying the summer.”

YouthQuest is a free, after school enrichment program for youth in Genesee County serving Carman-Ainsworth, Flint, Mt. Morris and Montrose school districts. The program is managed by the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce.
